Digital photography continues to increase in popularity; as technology becomes better, faster, and more accessible. However, whilst using a digital camera is preferential to standard film camera in so many ways, there are still things that users need to be mindful of.

One problem that the novice digital photographer has regards camera shake. In most cases, this is due to the reliance on the digital image viewer that comes as standard with most cameras these days.

Instead of framing your shot using the LCD screen, use the manual view finder as you would a traditional camera. Camera shake will be significantly reduced as the natural hold is much firmer, whilst framing of the shot will be better too.

It is also worth wrapping the camera strap around and through your hand fingers. This helps not only directly, but also gives a sense of assurance to the photographer.

As the time taking to take digital shots is slower too, camera shake could be increased as well. For dedicated photo shoots therefore, it could well be worth investing in a tripod, which will solve the issue in a sweep.

As time delay is an issue in digital photography, another good tip here, to ensure better focus is to ever so slightly depress the shutter bottom as the camera focuses, and then quickly fully press once it is set. This can make a huge difference to getting that sharp image, as opposed to a blurry and distant image.

One of the great things about digital photography; particularly for the casual user, is the ease in which images can be checked for quality. Be sure to check your photos before finishing up the scene. It does not take too long to take another snap of course; and you may end up cursing yourself for not checking; do not neglect the technology!

Indeed, checking your images can help a great deal to free up memory space. Any digital photographer would have had the bitter experience of taking a stunning shot; only to be told the image cannot be saved due to a lack of memory.

Whilst checking the preview option is good of course, also be sure to go through your images before and after each use of the camera. There will surely be some images you no longer want to keep.
